COCKATIEL NUTRITION

100_0586.jpg

There is a broad spectrum of information that one must be aware of concerning  proper cockatiel nutrition.  Fresh foods are essential to the health of your bird/s, and should be served to them on a daily basis, especially when they are breeding.
It is crucial to have clear knowledge of appropriate foods that cockatiels may consume.  In order to serve your pet a variable diet, and guarantee that they are provided with the nutrients necessary for health, growth, breeding and rearing, we do encourage owners to perform thorough research regularly.  This research will also alert the owner to foods which are extremely toxic to their cockatiels well-being.

Each of the, above, items should be served in moderation, and should be removed after 1 hour.  Fresh foods, should be shredded, diced or made into proportions small enough for your bird to consume.  Leafy items are acceptable to serve whole.

Also, be aware that fresh food items spoil very quickly and are capable of causing health issues in your cockatiel if consumed.  It is advisable to use a seperate feeding container for fresh foods so that it can be removed more easily.

A further note:  We do not serve our cockatiels any of the proteins listed above, with the exception of cooked eggs, and egg shells.  However, these proteins have been approved for cockatiel consumption.  Our decision to list them was for the purpose of providing you with the knowledge that they are safe to serve to your bird/s.  Should you choose to use them, please be aware that they have to be served completely fresh, and should not be left in the cage for longer than 30 minutes, nor should you ever serve your cockatiel any microwaved food.

Should you have any questions about other foods, or items, please contact us and we will be happy to answer your query and add the item to one of the tables on this page.
